It's simple: The Expo Crew makes people happy!
We work all over the show, behind the scenes and in the public eye to ensure each and every person that interacts with the Expo feels welcome and has a memorable experience. You could be keeping our Creator Guests fueled and fed, providing fans with info at Customer Service, distributing much-needed goodies to your fellow crew members, or keeping your watchful gaze over autograph lines and Media Guests. It takes a village, and every member is important.
There are many teams that make up the Expo: Operations, Distribution, Programming, Customer Service, Admissions and many more. We do our best to connect each member with a team that fits their skill set and interest as they climb up the ranks.
First off, you get to be a member of an exciting and enthusiastic community of people who are fans just like you. Many of our crew members have developed great friendships at Expo and enjoy mini reunions each year they return.
Please Note: All crew are required to sign up for a minimum of two shifts. To maintain awesome service for our fans, one of those two shifts must be on Saturday.
Common questions about joining the Expo Crew.
On the registration page, right where you pick the teams you are interested in, there is a link to a document with the team descriptions. Look through this document for teams that may spark your interest!
NOTE: We do our best to assign people to their teams of choice, but there is a chance you will end up on a team you did not select because your preferred teams are already at capacity. This gives you a chance to try out something you will likely find surprisingly more fun that you had imagined!
As soon as team assignments are done (usually in mid-March), your team lead will get in touch with you to welcome you to their team and will let you know their preferred method of communication.
For most people, messaging them via Shiftboard would suffice, but when in doubt, email email@example.com and we will direct your message where it needs to go.
If plans change - because you know, life happens - make sure to message your team lead and/or firstname.lastname@example.org well in advance of the show to let us know you can no longer make it and we will put your account on hold for the next show. If you do not inform us ahead of time and fail to show up for your scheduled shift(s), this may pose a hindrance next time you try to volunteer with us.
