Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo.
The Calgary Expo is a volunteer-driven non-for-profit all-ages family focused event. This three-day annual event is dedicated to promoting all forms of pop culture including, comic books, cartoons, animation, science fiction, fantasy, horror, gaming and more!
We are very fortunate to have a dedicated force of approximately fifty volunteers who assist in planning year round, and then an additional three hundred for the weekend of the Calgary Expo.

* We request that each volunteer perform at minimum 2 four-hour shifts from April 26-29th 2012 and attend at least one volunteer orientation session.
**Volunteers under the age of 14 must volunteer with a parent or guardian.
***Some positions may require additional screening.

Admissions
Fearless warriors on our front lines. This team is the first point of contact for attendees, exchanging funds or pre-purchased tickets for admittance, directing traffic, distributing program guides, and welcoming every attendee with a smile.
Exhibitors
A small but ever-so-valuable team of superstars that is essential for welcoming, checking-in and handing out exhibitor packages. Needed for the first two mornings, this team then dissolves and the volunteers have the opportunity to join other teams for the duration of the expo. The team then reforms at the end of show to register exhibitors for our upcoming year.
Creator Guest Services
Our Expo is busy and hectic. These Chivalrous Stewards tend to the needs of our Creator Guests to ensure they have a comfortable and successful convention. Providing food and water, regulating traffic flow, hotel and shuttle greeting are a few major tasks.
Media Guests
Our most highly coveted team, screening and training can be brutal. Nonetheless these Unparalleled Caballeros rise to the challenge and provide Media Guests with everything they should desire or require while on the grounds for the Expo.
Merchandise/Info Booth
Guardians of the exclusive Calgary Expo merchandise and Conductors of the Charity Auction. This team sells merchandise, receives and displays all the auction pieces, and runs the auction. All-seeing, all- knowing Sages of the Expo. They answer attendee questions, direct traffic and are the Keepers of the Lost and Found.
Operations
Our exhibition floor can get packed very quickly and these brave Superheroes regulate the flow of traffic by adhering to the fire code, dealing with exhibitor concerns and patrolling entryways.
Photos
These gutsy cowboys hold their own on the wild frontier of Photo Ops - a magnificent feat considering that the CCEE's photo ops are the highest in demand in North America 2nd only to DragonCon. Directing traffic and running Photo Pick Up - these buckaroos do it all with style.
Programming
One of the more secretive teams of the Expo, one is never too sure what these elusive ninjas are up to. Operating all year, they plan and coordinate the programming aspects of the Expo, including panels, workshops and the costume contests.
Special Events
The Flash ain't got nothing' on this team. They're the fastest runners around! Each special event is a mini-Expo on its own. Admissions, line control, raffle tickets, set up and tear down, and programming, this team will keep you on your toes! Past events include: The Macabre Masquerade, Movie Screenings at the Plaza, Ed & Red's Night Pasty, and #yyc Steakoff.
Transport
Airport runs, hotel runs, it's like driving miss Daisy! We'll need to be transporting our guests back and forth. They will need to be coordinated with our Media Guest team so we know when people are showing up!
VIPs
With over 300 VIP tickets sold, these Guardians and Protectors ensure VIPs have access to all the amenities promised with their purchase; from running the VIP room to providing access to panels there is never a dull moment.
Volunteers
The heart our of battle plan. These kind and noble dignitaries provide a smiling face and place of respite from the hectic Expo. Checking in and out volunteers, providing food and drink, and making rounds to relieve volunteers for their breaks.
